Description
Published photograph of a spindle whorl found in grave 350/III. This tool was used as a flying wheel to increase and facilitate the rotating movement of the spindle and produce a more even thread.

Material: bone
Dimensions: 40 mm diameter.
The grave contained the disturbed remains of two individuals, one male, one female. The finds included 3 ceramic vessels (bottle, lamp, cup), basketry fragments, a spindle whorl, an iron spatula together with its cover, textiles, and dates.
Estimated dating: 400-500 CE.
