Together, they traveled through Europe, the Middle East and down the Nile Valley during the years 1961-1963, and stayed three months with the SJE expedition team at Debeira. They chronicled the daily life of the team, in the field and in their headquarters at Debeira, as well as documented special events: the visit of H.M. the Queen of Denmark - then Princess Margrethe - in Nubia or the arrival of a film crew from Norsk TV. Beside 8 ceramic vessels, it included metalic knives and a cosmetic spatula, a spoon, fragments of leather bags and containers, a die, a bronze ring, beads, textile and leather fragments, ropes, and remains of fruits. This tool was used as a flying wheel to increase and facilitate the rotating movement of the spindle and produce a more even thread. It is a scan of the image published in Late Antique Textiles. Extensive digging in the archives at Uppsala have unfortunately not produce any trace of the original's negatives or a printed copy. This picture was used to illustrate the use of textiles in the graves, especially as shrouding material. The original caption reads "Tomb 350/II, X-Group burial with textile finds ont eh chest."
