It is a scan of the image published in Late Antique Textiles. Extensive digging in the archives at Uppsala have unfortunately not produce any trace of the original's negatives or a printed copy. This tool was used as a flying wheel to increase and facilitate the rotating movement of the spindle and produce a more even thread. Object reference in SJE inventories: 19/1.12 Material: bronze (copper alloy) and leather Dimensions of the case: L: 130 cm, Diam.: 3-4 cm The grave contained the partly disturbed remains of a mature male surrunded by a large funerary equipment. Beside 8 ceramic vessels, it included metalic knives and a cosmetic spatula, a spoon, fragments of leather bags and containers, a die, a bronze ring, beads, textile and leather fragments, ropes, and remains of fruits.
